Authorize.net Error

What if I receive an error message when trying to pay an invoice with Authorize.net?

If your clients are trying to pay an invoice with authorize.net they may receive this message:

“Issue - Error message when trying to pay an invoice with authorize.net. 'The merchant login ID or password is invalid or the account is inactive. Please double check your information and try again.”

Unfortunately that error is coming directly from authorize.net and is typically the result of an error with the login credentials for authorize.net.

You must use your API Login Key as the login and the transaction key as the password (when connecting your account to 17hats).  And then you have to generate the Transaction key on Authorize.net's gateway.

If your clients are reporting this error, you would need to disconnect your account and reconnect using your API Login Key as the login and the transaction key as the password.  The error code typically indicates that while 17hats shows a connection to authorize.net, the login credentials were in fact incorrect.

In order to update this, please navigate to "My Account", "Account Settings", "Invoice Options" and then remove your current authorize.net account.
