Learn how to customize a specific contacts Client Portal

The 17hats Client Portal is a convenient way for your clients to access and complete all the 17hats type documents you've sent to them. It's a secure location where your customers can accept quotes, sign contracts, complete questionnaires, pay invoices and view event details. All without having to dig through emails to find the document they need. 

While you can customize the portal on a global scale, you can also override the global setting and individualize each persons portal. This customization allows you to add links to outside pages they need to access such as a Google Doc, require a password to access the portal, and more! 

Customizing the Portal per Contact

To customize the portal for a specific contact, go to the contacts project page. Under their name, you'll see the Client Portal bar; click the arrow icon to expand this section to customize the portal as needed. 

Once expanded, you can change the cover image, welcome message and all other aspects of the portal for this individual contact.  Below, we'll cover each element you can customize and how to do so.

Customizable Settings

Allow Client Edits: You can change your settings to allow your customer to update their personal information (name, e-mail, phone number, address, birthday, etc.). Changes will be reflected in their contact details when saved. Each contact will not be able to edit event information or completed documents in the client portal.

Password Protection: If needed, you can enable the password protection option so only those with the password can access the portal. By toggling on the Password Protection option a random text string will be generated. You can change the generated password to create one that is easily memorable by your contact/client, or save the auto-generated password. 

Cover Image: To add a custom Cover Image use the toggle to enable this option. This will override the global settings for that contact only and you can select an image specific to your contact. For best results, we recommend using an image that has the dimensions of 1140x220px. 

Invoices, Quotes, Contracts and Questionnaires: Contacts will automatically be able to view and complete all sent documents for all active projects. You can override the setting by turning on or off the documents you would like to be accessible. For example: If you only want to show this specific client his/her Invoices, toggle off Quotes, Contracts and Questionnaires. If one toggle is changed, it will override all the other important documents previously viewable. 

Project Filtering: This is useful if you'd like to only show documents from specific Projects (or a select few Projects). Simply toggle on/off any Project to show or hide it from your client's Client Portal

Custom Welcome Message: A custom welcome message will allow you to share specific information, such as links to outside information or hosted files. Once toggled on, you'll be able to add any text, images, or links as needed!

Copy Default Welcome Message: If you have already saved a Default Welcome Message from within your account settings, you may press the Copy Default Message button to bring that messaging in and replace any text you may have manually entered here.
