If you no longer wish to use SMS Texting in 17hats, you can easily deactivate it within your Account Settings. Follow the steps below to cancel your Texting subscription and learn what happens once it’s disabled.

Overview

When you cancel Texting, you will continue to have access to the functionality until your subscription period ends. However, once your subscription expires, your Texting number will be permanently released, and you will not be able to send or receive new messages. You will have access to your text history with your contact from inside their project.

Steps to Cancel Texting

  1. Go to Account Settings

    • Click your profile icon in the top-right corner of your 17hats dashboard.

    • Select Account Settings from the dropdown menu.

  2. Open Plan Information

    • In Account Settings, click Plan Information.

    • Locate the Texting section in your plan details.

  3. Toggle Off Texting

    • Switch the Texting toggle to the off position to cancel your Texting subscription and follow the onscreen instructions.

What Happens After You Cancel Texting

  • Access to existing texts
    You’ll still see all past text messages within your account, but you will not be able to send or receive new ones once your subscription period ends.

  • Keep Texting until the end of your billing period
    You can continue using SMS Texting until your current Texting billing cycle ends.

  • Loss of your phone number
    When your Texting subscription ends, your assigned Texting number will be released and cannot be recovered.

  • Reactivation window
    You can turn Texting back on only before your subscription period ends. Once it expires, Texting cannot be reactivated and a new number cannot be assigned.

  • Notify your contacts
    Let your clients and leads know that your Texting number will no longer work once your subscription ends. Be sure to provide them with an alternative way to contact you.

Update Your Forms

If you’ve been using Texting for Lead Capture or communication, you’ll need to update your client-facing tools:

  • Remove Texting opt-in questions
    Go to your Lead Capture Forms, Questionnaires, and Online Scheduling templates, and remove any questions or sections related to Texting opt-ins.

  • Opt-in data cannot be exported
    The Texting opt-in is specific to the 17hats system and cannot be exported or transferred outside of the application.
